Pizza in the Garden

The Cook’s Garden located at 1033 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, CA 90291

This is just a quick blog to mention the opportunity to have delicious pizza while at an urban garden in Venice, California. I first read about the pizza in a review from L.A. Eater but later realized that the garden was actually a place I was familiar with and had always wanted to visit.

I have been following the Home Grown Edible Landscape (HGEL) posts off Facebook for many years! The Cook’s Garden is one of the urban gardens I was aware of that was public and located in Southern California. The Cook’s Garden is an urban garden that grows vegetables for a few local restaurants and is an animal sanctuary for chickens, other fowl, and rabbits. I followed her posts because she is a Master Gardener and stressed the educational aspects of gardening.

This urban garden is nestled in a small space in Venice.
On this late summer day, herbs, heirloom tomatoes, and blooming flowers were bountiful.

The pizza element is from a restaurant called Fiorelli Pizza. They serve authentic Sicillian thin crust pizza baked fresh from an oven all in the garden at The Cook’s Garden.

There were no leftovers. Every morsel was enjoyed.

There are picnic benches and tables as you sit near the chittering of chickens who sunbathe and people watch under the temperate beach weather climate.

Happy chickens, turkey, and ducks.

The pop-up restaurant was set to end in September but they have extended through October. Check Fiorelli Pizza’s instagram reels for current information: https://www.instagram.com/fiorellipizza/reels/
